Welsh Springer Spaniel Rescue Information: The Welsh Springer Spaniel, or Welshie, is a cheerful, solid dog. Welshies are more reserved than English Springer Spaniels. Welshies need to be with people, and should be socialized from an early age. Welshies are usually okay with other pets with whom they are socialized. Welshies are wonderful with children. A Welshie can live in an apartment but needs a lot of exercise and does best with a fenced yard.

Welsh Springer Spaniel Trivia: The Welsh Springer Spaniel has been bred in Wales since the middle ages. The Welsh Springer Spaniel was once known as the Welsh Spaniel. Welsh Cockers, which were probably ancestors of Welsh Springer Spaniels, are mentioned in a number of old Welsh texts. The Welsh Springer Spaniel is probably related to the Brittany Spaniel. Welsh Springer Spaniels were recognized by the AKC in 1906.
